Harold D. Arnett, age 88, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 4:06 am at Sage Bluff Health and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne. He attended Central High School, Fort Wayne, and served in the US Navy for 4 years in the WW II era. He worked as an inspector at Ray Magnet Wire in Fort Wayne for 23 years. He retired from Good Shepherd United Brethren Church, Huntington, where he worked as a custodian. He attended the Church House, Grabill. IN. He served his church as a Jr. High Sunday School (boys) teacher and he loved his family and spending time with them.
Harold was born September 6, 1928, in Fort Wayne, the son of Leonard C. and Marie (Jackson) Arnett. On April 10, 1948, he married his beloved wife of 69 years Alice Jean Long in San Diego, CA., and she survives in Roanoke. Also surviving are a son Steven T. (Barbara) Arnett of Fort Wayne, 2 daughters Verna M. (Larry) Williams and Deborah A. Dauscher both of Roanoke, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, a sister Betty Voigt of Deland, FL, and a brother Glenn (Joyce) Arnett of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a sister Marjorie Sproat and 2 brothers Leonard and Paul Arnett.
Visitation will be held Sunday July 2, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, and Monday July 3 from 10-11am preceding the 11:00 am funeral service at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes. Pastor Paul Schmucker will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Chapel Cemetery, Roanoke.
