Martha M. Phillips, 90 of Huntington, passed away Thursday July 1, 2010 at 12:10 am at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation.  Martha was a graduate of Clear Creek High School class of 1939, had worked at Our Sunday Visitor, and then at Wabash Magnetics as a press operator, retiring in 1992 after 28 years of service.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary Sodality, and was a member of the Wabash Magnetics 25 year club. 

Martha was born January 4, 1920 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Stephen and Teresa (Kanean) Farkas and was raised by John and Margaret Boyle.  On June 20, 1945 she married Gene W. Phillips in Huntington and he passed away February 27, 2007.  She is survived by a son Michael J. Phillips of Fort Wayne, 2 daughters Annette Kay (David) Norwood of Stella, North Carolina, Janet E. (John) Tingle of South Whitley , 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, a sister Ellen Farkas, and 2 brothers John Farkas and Steve Farkas.

Visitation will be held Sunday July 4, 2010 from 2-6 pm with a vigil service at 5:30 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Monday July 5, at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Father John Pfister officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary  Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers preferred memorials are to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic School, or Huntington Area Transport (HAT) c/o Deal-Rice Funeral Home, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington, IN 46750.

i am sorry for your loss. i worked with martha when i just turned 18 at wabash magnetics. she was a good friend. may God Bless you at this time.
