Roy E. Crawford, 82, of Roanoke, IN passed away at 6:21 am Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne,  He graduated from Jefferson Center High School, served in the US Army  during the Korean War, and was a truck driver with Sun Oil Company for 30 years, retiring in 1983.  He was a 61 year member of the Roanoke American Legion Post 160, a member of VFW Post 2689 and the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department.

Roy was born April 26, 1928 in Servia, IN a son of Roy and Alice A. (Baldwin) Crawford.  On Oct. 20, 1956 he married his beloved wife of 53 years, Bonnie Berry, in Roanoke, she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Becky (David) Hitzfield of Fort Wayne, a son Barry Eugene (Darlene) Crawford of Waterloo, a brother Jim (Ann) Crawford of Columbia City; two sisters Beverly (Don) Sutton of Ann Arbor, MI, and Pat (Dan) Reed of Fort Worth, TX; four grandchildren, Candice (Adam) Couch, Casey Hitzfield, Tanner Crawford and Christina Frakes, and four great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Bette Reason.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Friday at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke with Pastor Judy Follis officiating and  VFW Post 2689 and Roanoke American Legion Post 160 providing military honors.

Preferred memorials may be made to Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department or Roanoke American Legion Post 160, c/o Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, IN 46783.

Bonnie, Barry and Becky...
So sorry for your loss. "Junior" was always wonderful to me and I will never forget the times I spent with him and all of you.
