Forest R. ”Dick” Raver, 85, of Huntington, passed away Saturday July 24, 2010 at 6:25 am at Meadowvale Care Center, Bluffton. He served in the US Coast Guard in WW II, worked at Schacht Rubber, Pinkerton Security, and for the City of Huntington Street Department for over 30 years, and was a member of Victory Tabernacle, Huntington.
Forest was born June 28, 1925 in Decatur, the son of George and Leah Garnet (McCanahay) Raver. On June 16, 1948 he married Maudie Brinkman in Huntington and she passed away April 13, 2004. He is survived by one son Roger (Sheri) Raver, three daughters Rozella Ann Zimmerman, Garnet Sue (Bob) Hethcote, and Sylvia (Jesse) Steward all of Huntington, 24 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and one sister Marcia VanOver of Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by one son Richard Raver in 1994.
Visitation will be held Tuesday July 27 from 5-8 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday July 28 at 10:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Melvin Lamphier officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.
