Bertha B. Pedersen, age 94, of Huntington and formerly of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 6:05 pm at Oakbrook Village, Huntington. She worked in production at GE for 19 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Roanoke First Brethren Church, DAV Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, GE Elex Club, volunteered with Special Olympics and enjoyed reading Westerns.
Bertha was born May 24, 1924, in St. Mary’s, Idaho, a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Haskins) Hurtienne. On May 15, 1951, she married her beloved husband Ferris E. Pedersen in Fairplay, Colorado. He passed away April 28, 1998. She is survived by a son Ferris E. “Pete” Pedersen of Huntington, a daughter Zena D. (Larry) Bowers of Huntington, 10 grandchildren Larry “Punk” (Stephanie) Bowers, Julie (Matthew) Arquette, Heather (Nate) Minton, Trudy (Tracy) Stanley, Robert Williams, Deb (Richard) Shell, Carla Winters, Tim Wohlford, Jim Wohlford, Glen “Dino” Biddle, 23 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters Karen Vasseur of Colorado and Gail Hudson of Illinois. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Florence E. Jackson, 3 brothers Vance Kelley, Bruce Kowaluk, and James Sherrin, and 4 sisters Behula Ann Adamich Frances Mereta Eaton, Virginia Keough, and Mary Louise Nelson.
Deal-Rice Funeral Homes is entrusted with the private services. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
