Harold P. Rich, age 94, of Huntington, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 at 9:09 am at Parkview Huntington Hospital. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1943. He worked at Caswell Runyan from 1946-1952, at Utah Electronics from 1952-1960 where he was Chief Engineer for the last four years, then worked at Pyle Industries as chief engineer from 1960-1989. He was a member of Mt. Etna United Methodist Church and Warren Tractor Club. He enjoyed attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school and sport activities, was an accomplished woodworker, loved traveling and spending time at the lake cottage, playing golf, watching IU Basketball, and collecting John Deere tractors.
Harold was born January 29, 1925, in Huntington County, the son of Ralph B. and Agnes N. (Ward) Rich. On May 10, 1944, he married his beloved wife of 65 years Mary L. Landrum in Huntington County and she passed away February 6, 2010. Surviving are 2 daughters Judy Malchin of Wheaton, Illinois and Carol (Terry) Schoeff of Huntington, a son Don (Connie) Rich of Huntington, 8 grandchildren Thomas Andrew, Scott (Pam) Andrew, Michele (Tom) Strickland, Julie (Greg) Ramp, Brad (Mindy) Schoeff, Lisa Strine, Jason (Anna) Rich, Tyler (Amy) Rich, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 11 from 4-7 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel, and Saturday October 12 from 9-10 am preceding the 10:00 am funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Gallant will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
