Janet E. Perkins, age 84, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 7:03 pm at Aperion Care of Fort Wayne.  She graduated from Gettysburg Ohio High School in 1952 and with an AA in accounting from Miami-Jacobs Business College in 1953.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she played in the handbell choir and served as president of Rebecca UMW, vice president of UMW, and was honored by UMW as Woman of the year in 2010.  She was also a member of Kilsoquah American Business Women Association where she was honored as woman of the year in 2000, a 60 year member of 307 Tippecanoe Chapter OES of Tipp City, Ohio and a member of the Korean War Veterans Auxiliary.

 

Janet was born December 15, 1934, in Gettysburg, Ohio, the daughter of Daniel A and Myrtle (Thomas) Nease.  On April 2, 1955 she married her beloved husband of 59 years Donald L. Perkins in Gettysburg, Ohio. He passed away April 18, 2014.  She is survived by 2 sons Gary Alan (Julie) Perkins of Lowell, MI and Thad W. (Pam) Perkins of Suamico, WI, a daughter Brenda E. (Larry Jr.) Rosen of Huntington, 6 grandchildren Jason (Lawson) Perkins, Diane (Peter) Perkins, Sabrina (Dennis) Newcomb, Larry Rosen III, Kimberly Perkins, Aaron Perkins 4 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 4 brothers Robert, Donald, Dan Jr. and James Nease.

 

Visitation will be held Saturday February 9 from 2-4:30 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel.  Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.

 

In lieu of flowers preferred memorials are to Trinity United Methodist Church c/o Deal-Rice Funeral Home, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington, IN 46750.
