Carlton S. Sprague, Jr. passed away, peacefully, on July 17th, 2020, in Huntington, Indiana. Private services will be held for family members.
Carlton was born on May 25th, 1927, in West Lafayette, Indiana, to Ruth (Foote) Sprague and Carlton S. Sprague, Sr. He was the oldest of two children, with Carolyn Janice, his younger sister. Carlton served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, as a Teletype Mechanic Instructor, and was awarded the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 22, 1946. He then graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, in 1953, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began working for US Gypsum Company, and later became a Field Construction Engineer for Shuttleworth, in Huntington, Indiana, where he worked until his retirement in 1984. He thoroughly enjoyed riding his 1926 Harley Davidson motorcycle, and spending time at the library. He was associated with the Methodist church, a member of the American Legion, National Speleological Society, Purdue Auto Club, and Indiana Library Federation. Carlton is survived by his sister, Carolyn J. Gorman, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, and 4 great nephews and nieces.
