DeWayne W. Lusch, age 93, of Huntington, went to be with his Lord Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 2:45 am at Oakbrook Village, Huntington. He worked at Baldwin Hill Insulation, then as a custodian and in maintenance for Huntington County School Corporation for 41 years. During that time he also ran his own saw filing business. After retiring he worked as a crossing guard at Central School. He was a member of the First Brethren Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling and putting together puzzles.
DeWayne was born July 18, 1927, in Huntington, a son of Sylvester and Nellie (Griffith) Lusch. On November 27, 1948 he married his beloved wife of 70 years Patricia Redding in Huntington, and she passed away June 23, 2019. Surviving are 2 sons Michael (Vicki) Lusch and Robert (Beth) Lusch, 2 daughters Marjorie (Dennis) Teusch and Diana (Ed) Guldice, all of Huntington, 12 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 44 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Janet (June) Walker of Huntington. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jane Bowers, a grandson Christopher Lusch, 4 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters Grace Zickafoose, Patricia Rowen, Mary Bradley and Charlotte Alter, and a brother Charles Lusch..
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 31 from 2-7 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel and Thursday, April 1 from 10-11 am preceding the 11:00 am funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Gus Hacker will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
