She was preceded in death by brothers Michael and James Caston and sister Dolores Ohnesorge.
Maryann retired as secretary/bookkeeper at Nelson Machine & Fabrication in Roanoke, but primarily found her joy as a homemaker, mother, and servant. A member of Christ’s United Methodist Church since moving to Roanoke in 1947, she served in many capacities from communion steward to the coordination and preparation of countless meals for every conceivable church-based activity.
Many will remember Maryann from her 50+ years in service to the Girl Scouts. Her tireless efforts in coordination of area day camps and cookie sales resulted in her being awarded the Thanks and Thanks II badges: the highest honors given to adult Girl Scout volunteers for providing exemplary service in a leadership role. She was also a proud member of the Amicita Homemaker Club for over 50-years.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 20, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes. Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Christ’s United Methodist Church, 148 West Third St., Roanoke, with visitation one hour prior.
