Nylia J. Fisher, age 77, of Andrews, went to be with her Lord Thursday, March 19, 2020, at 8:30 pm at Millers Merry Manor, Huntington. She had worked at Essex and was a member of Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, Andrews. Nylia was an excellent cook & was especially known for her homemade chicken & noodles & her (secret recipe) of mashed potatoes. She even taught her great grandchildren recently how to make homemade noodles. She loved the Lord & she loved her church & when she was in better health was always working at the church, helping with meals, in Ladies Aid, teaching Sunday School for 35 years or more, playing the organ for church services & just enjoyed serving others. She loved gardening & flowers but her favorite flowers were her grandchildren & she loved them dearly. Her much loved pet was her dog Dusty.
Nylia was born November 27, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois, a daughter of Victor and Jeanne (Ruff) Voris. On January 24, 1981 she married her beloved husband of 39 years Glenn D. Fisher. He survives in Andrews. Also surviving are 3 daughters Becky (Don) Howard of Andrews, Julie (Joe) Cirullo of Huntington, and Cyndi (Don) Ross of Huntington, a step-son Dale (Marchita) Fisher of Andrews, 7 grandchildren Jasa (Jordan) Wintrode, Chad (Rachel) Cirullo, Erica Kline, Taylor Ross, Kendra Zielinski, Angelle Fisher, Joshua Keel, 7 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dee Voris of Flushing, Michigan, nieces, nephews and other family and friends who will mourn her loss. She was preceded in death by a brother Victor “Butch” Voris Jr.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Monday, March 23 at 2:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.
