Wesley Carl Moeck, Jr., age 75, of Markle, Indiana, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 1:45 p.m. at Markle Health & Rehabilitation. Wesley graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1962, served his country honorably - first as a Private and finally as a Sergeant - from 1965 to 1967 at the United States Army Alaska (USARAL) Headquarters Command during the Vietnam War, and diligently worked numerous jobs over the decades in order to provide for his family. He was a faithful son, husband, father, friend, soldier, and employee.
Wesley was born December 22, 1943, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Wesley and Glenrose (Tubbs) Moeck. When he was ten, his mother married Melvin Ruoff, whom Wesley came to know and love as his father, faithfully calling him on Sundays after his mother's passing in 1995 until Melvin's passing in 2003.
Wesley worked for W.T. Grant & Company from the time he graduated from Lafayette High School in 1962 until the time he entered the Army in 1965. He also attended college in St. Joe before serving in the Army. In 1967, Wesley came home from the service and once again worked for "Grants", although he was asked to move from St. Joe to Milwaukee, and later to Huntington.
In 1970, Wesley began a decade-long stint riding the rails for the Erie Lackawanna Railway (later ConRail), followed by a thirty-year stretch working for Bendix (later, Allied-Signal and then Honeywell). On July 14, 1972, he married his wife of 47 years, Diana K. Hoffman, in Huntington. She survives in Markle. Also surviving are daughters, Tisha (Nathan) Herman of Reliance, South Dakota, and Trudy (Steve) Hartzler of Markle, Indiana, as well as 9 grandchildren: Rebecca Herman, Michaela Herman, Johanna Herman, Jonathan Herman, Benjamin Herman, Aletheia Herman, and Austin Yazzie of Reliance, and Coby and Carson Hartzler of Markle. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, Wesley (Malvry) Moeck, Sr., and Glenrose (Melvin) Ruoff.
